RNs, clinicians, and other clinic staff who listen to this event will acquire knowledge regarding the prevalence of disease due to HIV/STDs among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning (LGBTQ) clients living in the United States. They will increase their ability to counsel and provide healthcare services to LGBTQ clients in their clinic settings, especially with regards to HIV/STD services, with the goal of increasing those clients seeking health care services.

Evidence-Based Interventions for Increasing Chlamydia and Gonorrhea Retesting Rates

Chlamydia (CT) and gonorrhea (GC) reinfections are very common and increase a woman's risk of serious reproductive health complications. The CDC recommends that retesting patients a few months after treatment for CT or GC be a priority for providers. Yet, retesting rates remain low, hovering around 30% nationally. While many patients return to their providers during the target period for retesting, many do not receive a retest. During this webinar, we share data on the risks of CT/GC reinfections for women and easy-to-implement best practice interventions at both the clinic-/systems- and patient-levels that are documented to improve retesting rates.
