In This Training
The possibility of a pregnancy can provoke a wide range of feelings and may involve making a significant decision. Staff must be prepared to address the potential complexity of each client's situation. This one-day workshop will help staff gain the knowledge and skills to be an effective pregnancy counselor.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- describe their own values and beliefs regarding pregnancy options
- describe the Federal and State guidelines for conducting pregnancy counseling
- discuss the three pregnancy options with clients in an unbiased manner.
Who Should Attend
Any staff providing pregnancy counseling services to family planning clients.
Trainer
Marsha Gelt, MPH, is an experienced counselor and trainer and has provided training in family planning education and counseling for over 25 years. She is committed to ensuring staff provide quality pregnancy counseling.
Fees
All fees are per person.
- Title X-funded agencies: $25
- Private/Other funding: $45
- CE credit is an additional $30
A $10 late fee will be assessed for each registration received after the deadline of January 25, 2012. Fees can be refunded if cancellation is received five working days prior to the season.

Continuing Education
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 02604, for 7.2 contact hours. To receive credit, nurses must attend the entire course and present their license number at the workshop. All other applicants will receive certificates of participation.
