What is an Independent Study?
An independent study is a self-paced course that you take on your own time. Once you register, you will receive an email with the course link. Keep the confirmation email so that you can access the course whenever you want. Check your Spam or Clutter email folders if you do not see the email.
About this Independent Study
This 1 hour online course includes an overview of the variety of contraceptive options available, and will cover ways that health care staff, especially community health workers, can start conversations with teenagers and young adults about those options, including abstinence.
At the end of this program, the CHW will be able to:
- Discuss ways to start a conversation about contraceptives
- List different kinds of contraceptives
- Explain where to go for more information about contraceptives
Who Should Register
This course is designed for community health workers and community outreach/education staff. Other staff who work with teens and young adult clients, or who need an overview of contraceptives, will also benefit.
Texas community health workers (CHWs) and CHW Instructors can apply for 1 hour of continuing CHW or CHW-I education.
