What is an Independent Study?

An independent study is a self-paced course that you take on your own time. Once you register for the course, you will receive an email with the course link. Keep the confirmation email so that you can access the course whenever you want.

About this Independent Study

The rates of HIV transmission are high in the transgender and gender non-binary community. At the same time, Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, or PrEP, is an amazing new tool that reduces the chance of HIV acquisition by 90% or more. Why are the rates still so high with such an effective medication available?

In this module, we will discuss PrEP basics, barriers to care for TGNB clients, and ways to provide PrEP counseling and care in a gender affirming manner to those clients.

Who Should Attend

Registered nurses, clinicians, counselors at HIV or STD service sites, or at health care sites that may counsel or refer clients for HIV prevention
