About this Independent Study
Opioid use has risen dramatically in the past few decades. The impact on women in girls is often misunderstood. Take this course to learn more about the risk factors, warning signs and steps you can take to help your clients.
By the end of the training, you will be able to:
- Discuss how opioid and substance misuse impacts women of all ages;
- List signs and risk factors for opioid and substance misuse;
- Discuss how to start a conversation about substance use,
- Explain how and when to make a referral for further assessment.
Who Should Register
This course is designed for community health workers and community outreach/education staff. Other staff who work with clients on behavior change will also benefit.
Continuing Education (CE)
This course offers free continuing education for Community Health Workers certified in Texas. When all requirements have been successfully completed, learners can receive 1.5 hours of CHW Continuing Education (.5 Communication Skills, 1 on Knowledge Base on Specific Health Issues)
Cardea is approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services to provide continuing CHW hours in Texas. Certification # 44.
