How do I Help my Clients Make Changes to Improve Their Health? An Introduction to Motivational Interviewing for CHWs
Date: September 2019
About this Independent Study
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a respectful way of working with clients, and includes necessary skills for anyone who wants to help people to make healthy choices. When our clients make their own health care plans, they are more successful in changing unhealthy behaviors.
By the end of the training, you will be able to:
- Explain why behavior change is hard;
- Identify at least two skills to engage clients in a behavior change conversation;
- Recognize reflective listening statements that may motivate clients towards change.
