Family Planning Training and Technical Assistance

Cardea (as Center for Health Training) has provided family planning and reproductive health training and technical assistance (TA) throughout the west coast and southern United States for more than 30 years. As the Title X Family Planning Training grantee in each of three public health service regions, we have assisted professionals from Hawaii, Guam and the Pacific Basin to Louisiana, from Alaska to Texas. Our offices are located in Austin, Texas; Oakland, California; and Seattle, Washington.

We provide hundreds of training events each year, including small workshops, large clinical conferences, residential institutes, retreats, video/audio conferences, webinars and other electronic media events. Our training, as well as our TA services, provides the latest information and skill training in the field to clinicians, administrators, supervisors, managers, educators, counselors, fiscal staff and others, helping them maintain licensure and improve services to underserved populations.

We provide expert training on:
  • basic family planning skills
  • comprehensive sexuality education, including science-based approaches
  • contraception
  • cultural proficiency
  • customer service
  • family planning counseling
  • HIV and STIs
  • reproductive health issues
  • sexuality
  • and many other topics.

In addition to training and TA, we have created products for use by health providers to train their own staff. Please see the featured products listed in our Resources section.

For more specific information about our training calendars and products, please refer to our web pages for our respective offices, Oakland, Austin, and Seattle.
