Title X Family Planning Data Management System
The Region X Title X Family Planning (FP) Data Management System collects, analyzes, and distributes FP clinic client visit data. It provides clinic managers and other stakeholders with summary reports on client medical, laboratory, counseling and contraceptive methods used. These reports are provided at no additional charge to agencies and clinic sites. The region-wide system is HIPAA compliant.
The Data Management System is used to characterize clients who receive Title X services at the local, state and regional levels. Data are reported by each agency (project) and at each registered clinic (site) within the project using a CVR or Clinic Visit Record data collection tool. Definitions for client characteristics and services are provided under Title X guidelines.
Aggregate client and grantee data are submitted annually to the DHHS Office of Population Affairs for their national Family Planning Annual Report (FPAR). The FPAR is submitted each year to Congress. It describes Title X clients and services nationwide and by Public Health Service regions.
The Data Management System is overseen by the Region X FP Information Subcommittee and the Regional Information System Manager. For more information, contact David Fine at the Seattle office (see staff listing under the 'About' tab)
Recent Presentations
At the spring 2011 Title X Region X grantee meeting we presented analyses of female FP client chlamydia screening coverage. This summer (2011) Cardea staff are presenting analyses on how to maximize FP program effectiveness in terms of STI screening.
Other presentations include a 2009 analysis of female client CVR data. Our focus was on one of the outcome measures available in this regional information system—the 'intendedness' status of clients who were pregnant at their Title X visits between January 2007 and June 2008 (the latest data available for analysis as of early 2009).
