Vanessa Sarria, MPA
Vanessa Sarria, MPA, Vice President of Cardea, has about 25 years of health and human services experience at the national, state, and local levels. Prior to joining Cardea, Vanessa led early childhood systems building initiatives for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Prevention and Early Intervention Division. In 2015, she served as the Policy and Initiative Advancement Director for Austin Mayor Steve Adler who was the first mayor to serve as part of the 10-1 City Council system, based on representation from the city’s 10 geographic districts.
Prior to that, Vanessa served as the Executive Director of the Community Advancement Network (CAN), a neutral convener and partnership of organizations committed to improving social, health, educational, and economic opportunities in Central Texas. She also served in various management, planning, policy, research, program coordination, and community engagement roles at Workforce Solutions Capital Area, Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services Department, Montgomery County United Way, and Austin Travis County Integral Care, as well as at the National Public Health and Hospital Institute in Washington, DC.
Vanessa received an MPA with a concentration in health policy from Syracuse University.
